Welcome! My name is Sara Hendrickson. I’m a writer, teacher, and aspiring visionary from Seattle, WA. I’ve lived in Seattle my whole life and love to call this place home with my husband Mark and tiny dog Sadie.
For as long as I can remember I’ve loved cooking and writing. In college I studied Creative Nonfiction so I could write about cooking but ended up getting my Master’s in teaching. Since finishing grad school, I’ve realized that I don’t really want to be a high school English teacher and that I really, really want to be a writer. I am currently substitute teaching and developing my blog, web skills, and writing portfolio.
I started eat food. during a sub assignment in 2012. This particular afternoon I’d just finished showing students the documentary, Forks Over Knives. Unable to contain my enthusiasm about this film, I decided to take my ideas, experiences, and recipes to the blogosphere. And thus, eat food. was born.
Although I am not a strict vegan, nor even a vegetarian, I do try to keep animal products and processed food to a minimum. The result is mostly plant-based meals (and recipes) with a few happy indulgences here and there. If there’s anything you’d like to learn about, or how to cook, please let me know! I love to teach and I aim to please, so shoot me an email from the Contact page and I promise I’ll get right back to you.
Thank you so much for visiting eat food.
